Inserting points at polyline change of direction

I am using AutoCad 2018 and am setting coordinates of a polyline which is the centreline of a footpath. I need to insert points at each change of direction - is there a way that i can automatically insert the points rather than have to manually select each OSNAP? something similar to measuring to insert points at meterage intervals maybe; there are over 200 points on this one line so it would save a lot of time.

I don't understand how a polyline can change it's direction if there does not already exist a vertex on that position.

Can you please upload a dwg-file with such a polyline and manually draw an arrow where you need to add a new vertex?

Hi Please see attached an extract of the drawing i am working on with arrows showing each change in 'direction'. i think the confusion is coming in at what i am calling direction.
