Inserting a JPEG into a DWG + issue with Hardware acceleration

Hi,

I have a 2 month old HP Z Book with 2017 AUTOCAD. Recently I am unable to use INSERT and ATTACH command to insert JPEGS into drawings. I tried OLE command, but pics were squashed!!

THEN - Suddenly my dwg. colors are all different. Red to Blue, Yellow to Cyan. I used GRAPHICSCONFIG command and turned off Hardware Acceleration and it fixes the problem, but WHY did this happen? Does it mean there is a problem with my graphics card on brand new computer??

Does anyone else have this problem? ANY help is much appreciated.

Your AutoCAD is not up-to-date or your graphic card driver is defect (may be not up-to-date too).

Please start AutoCAD, start command _ABOUT and upload a screenshot from that dialog.

Same with command _GRAPHICSCONFIG

Hi,

sorry, no images attached here.

Please don't answer using your mail system as that does not forward attachments, please use the reply option in the forum thread/post instead, there you can add files to the post.

Ok, trying this. I cannot seem to do a screen shot here. So I am attaching photos of the screen for those 2 commands.

Hi,

thank you for your screenshots!

Version O.49.0.0 means you don't have any service pack installed for your AutoCAD 2018, so please start Autodesk Desktop App, make sure you are logged in and wait a few minutes until the list of updates is refreshed ... then install these updates.

If that is done try again the same function and let us know the results.

Hi Alfred,

Good news!! I installed updates and NOW able to leave Hardware Acceleration on and colors are all good!!! The ABOUT command still says Version O.49.0.0 tho.... why is that?

My other issue is still not working. See attached screen shot after I click on INSERT then ATTACH.

Thank you SO MUCH for your help!!!!

Hi,

Reboot your workstation, then start AutoCAD, if it again says O.49.0.0 then I guess the update either failed to install or did not install.

>> I click on INSERT then ATTACH.

Sorry, the screenshot does not show me what the error is.

Hi!

I rebooted and the version does not update, stays at O.49.0.0. AND, colors not working again. SOOO.. Yes, the updates are not installing properly or at all and presently my Autodesk Desktop App says I have no new updates to install.  Earlier - when the colors worked correcly for a brief time - the GraphicsConfig message stated that my graphics card was an Intel 620. Now when it is not working - it says the graphics card is an AMD FirePro. Actually this computer has both.

Re: other issue. The error is that a message comes up that says "Path to file to attach" - but does not allow me to open an file to attach.

Thanks for your help!!! SADLY... I think my problem is the graphics card?? And I must go back to HP???

Hi,

>> my Autodesk Desktop App says I have no new updates to install.

Are you logged in? Login is necessary so the Autodesk Desktop App knows which products you could have and also to get the information about subscription and so possible updates to install.

>> Now when it is not working - it says the graphics card is an AMD FirePro

Then update the AMD drivers for your graphic card.

>> other issue. The error is that a message comes up that says "Path to file

>> to attach" - but does not allow me to open an file to attach.

Please again, create a screenshot from that messagebox (please find >>>here<<< how you can create screenshots on your computer).

Hi,

well, I now see that the filename is requested in the command-line instead by an file-open dialog. Therefor please set the sysvar

FILEDIA

to 1

For the update: you can login to your subscription center (http://manage.autodesk.com) ==> AutoCAD ==> 2018 ==> updates and download the update from that location, then install it manually.
