Insert > Field > Object, does not display choices

I have a problem with Insert Field e.g. Objects. I don't get to see anything, in the right area and can't make a choice. Normally I should be able to choose: Object type; Property, Format; List separator etc.... The link below shows what it should look like, but I only see the left column, Field names. I can not choose property, nor Format...
These boxes are simply not shown. Instead, it is a plane grey area....

To solve this problem, Which setting am I missing ???

I have the problem both in AutoCAD 2023 Std as AutoCAD Map 2024

This link shows how it should look: https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-2ce627f0eda1a47881cc5cacbe6e3a47-lq

Do you have multiple monitors? If so, does it look the same on all monitors?

Here is how to open a support request, with Autodesk if you wish to do so.

Something definitely crashed with your AutoCAD version.

Did this suddenly happen?

Do you recall anything you install that might have caused this?

You can try launching AutoCAD in safemode without any add-ins to see if that makes a difference:

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-launch-an-A...

You can try resetting AutoCAD:

https://resources.imaginit.com/support-blog/how-to-manually-reset-an-autocad-based-profile-back-to-d....

If the above fails, you may have to uninstall & reinstall from scratch.

@Gitte.VanGompel

Questions:

  1. Brand new drawing? Have you drawn any objects, e.g. points, lines or polygons?
  2. Are you on a layout tab or in modelspace? If layout tab, is the viewport activated?
  3. Would it be possible to upload a screenshot that shows the object. Select the object and include the Properties Palette in your screenshot.
  4. While in modelspace, CNTL+A=>>Does the top section of the Properties Palette display the type and number of objects you’ve selected? Upload a screenshot.

@paullimapa

Pls reread post #4.

The sceenshot you’re alluding to is ‘a’ screenshot but it’s not the ‘right’ screenshot.’ Where is the screenshot of the Properties Palette when the object is selected?

If you can see that screenshot, can you repost it?

That’s because it has nothing to do with the properties palette. Again read the OP carefully again

@paullimapa

Of course it doesn't have anything to do with the properties palette. It determines whether the object’s properties are being being read at all…..and by what, e. g. Props Palette vs the Field selection window, that’s all.

More importantly why are you questioning my post?! You may read my post but who are YOU to question me?

Since the Field object window does not present any options for selection, no object is even placed for any thing to be selected for the properties palette to show. I’m pointing this out so the OP is not confused by your response.

Good point. But in the event it is not, such screenshot will shed light on the subject. That sceenshot will ‘eliminate the obvious’ to everyone,: the OP, me and the rest if the forum.

The OP is afforded the opportunity to provide the screenshot and the forum is allowed to view it, but you want to limit (or eliminate) that opportunity.

Again, why did you question my post?

What kind of object is it that you're having problems with Field selection?

Could you share a sample drawing with this object?

Awesome screenshots!

Would it be possible to upload another? Your screenshot below displays ‘All (9)’ at the top of the Properties Palette, can you hit that circled red arrow then take another screenshot? That dropdown will reveal quantities and object types which might be helpful.

Here’s another post with similar Field window missing elements but running C3D. The cause was due to a corrupt windows user profile. The solution was to sign out of windows and sign in as a different user
