Information share – AutoCAD Forum Topic Archive

Hi Everyone,

On Friday, 31st March 2023 we will begin the process of bulk archiving of threads on the AutoCAD Forum.

Why:

This board has over 900,000 threads and experiences slow loading times with over 1000 pages of topics. Coupled with this, existing content dates to the year 2000 which has become obsolete and not relevant to more recent versions of AutoCAD.

How:

Utilizing a bulk archive feature, we will archive thread content older than ten years old.

FAQ:

Will archiving delete the thread?

No, Archiving moves the thread from the affected board to a forum archive.

What if a thread has an accepted solution and is still relevant?

We will be repurposing accepted solution threads over ten years old that have an accepted solution. Using an accepted view threshold within the last three months, these threads will be repurposed into community-generated content. This content could be a Community Tip, Community Voice Blog, or Community Conversation.

Will this content be linked to the thread once archived?

As new community content is created, archived content will be cross-linked to ensure the validity and consistency of the archived content. E.g., If an old link to an archived forum topic is selected, this link will redirect to the new piece of community-generated content.

Information Update – AutoCAD Forum Topic Archive

The archive process is underway, with over 110,000 topics being moved to the archive; We estimate this will take around 56 hours to complete.

Thanks
