Including all object types in section planes?

Is there a way to include all object types in a section plane/volume?  We have received a 3d file but all objects are lines or polyface mesh and I wish to create some sections/elevations from it.  As far as I can see, the section plane command only includes 3d solid objects?  Is there an alternative function which includes everything?

Thanks

Of course you won't be able to cross-section the mesh because it's empty inside and not meant to be processed in CAD programs. Polygon meshes are for rendering and animation purposes only. But if the mesh is drawn with high quality, without holes (it is customary in AutoCAD to talk about the "water resistance" of meshes or surfaces), then you can try to convert it into a solid. To do this, there are regular commands and more powerful plugins.

Oh ok.  I was hoping a surface could be represented as a line in a section view similar to how a topo surface can be shown in a revit section.  Thanks for the response.
