Importing Illustrator to AutoCAD

I'm new to AutoCAD ... I have drawings I need to import from Illustrator cc to be able to extrude the drawings into 3d.

I exported it as a dwg file and was able to import it, but am not able to extrude anything.

Help!

AutoCAD can't extrude splines.  You need to convert them to polylines first.  Use SPLINEDIT.

Splines are not necessarily a problem - extruding poorly exported splines can be.  The geometry in the original attachment had several curves with coincident Control Vertices.  AutoCAD has a problem with that.  Resetting those creates more manageable splines that will not only extrude but will allow better downstream manipulation charackterisitics of the resultant solid.  See fillets on the attached.

Would I take each part and SPLINEDIT them separately? When I selected the whole thing it only seemed to do the right lens?? or everything but the right lens... (really, really new to autocad :)... )

For me, the original splines would not extrude.  I just converted each of them separately to plines and extruded them.  Splinedit can only work with one spline at a time.  Extruded can work with all of the converted splines at the same time.  After extruding them, use the subtract command to remove the inside parts (assuming you are doing eyeglasses).
