Hop on the Exchange app store for Autodesk (start Exchange in AutoCAD and look for the link) and grab an add-on that will do that.

If you are looking for a free solution, Autodesk has switched to Bing Maps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QmQYYFfohE

There are two parts that need to be resolved in your question -- the first is getting location information into Acad, and the second is displaying something.  So let's start with the second part first.

How are you expecting to display the stratigraphy?

And, fundamentally, what version of CAD do you currently have access to? Map3D? Civil 3D? Vanilla Acad? AcadLT?

Hi,
The video link was very helpful, but I wanted to know some more things
about it. Like after locating the points, I want to attach an image or PDF
to it, so that when I click on that particular location in AutoCAD the
image or PDF should pop up.

Thank you,
Renu

OK, that parts pretty simple.  Place an Acad object, a circle, a block, or whatever, at those coordinates, and attach a Hyperlink to the object that points to the image or PDF.

See Hyperlink command in Help for more information.
