Identifying layer on an XREF

Anonymous

How do I properly identify a layer on an xref. Please do not say "XLIST" which gives me a pop up window from 2003 standards that list the object and layer which are both misidentified, with the layer mislabeling the actual xref drawing and not the layer. It boils down to me opening the xref and going through it to track down the actual layer. And once I have identified the proper layer through manual means, it is not easily manipulated sometimes, meaning I can't change the color in my drawing, etc.

[That can't be the only difference.  The prompt at the end telling you the command name is not in any way required for the command to work.  And the code in Message 7 works for me, exactly as is.  So something else must have gotten altered in your creation of a .lsp file with it.]

K I S S  METHOD:

as I am usually in Nth Speed Mode while Drafting;

have found that an easy solution is to simply utilize the "freeze" command and the name of the selected layer appears in the command line (technic also verifies that I did not accidentally choose wrong element when it disappears) ... then I simply type "U", followed with Esc, Esc, and proceed to open the layers panel

Xlist really is flawed that it doesn't size the box to be able to see the layer if the XREF prefix is too long.

Anyway, copy the following into your command line, then click your object.

When I use your LSP file, in the command line it's telling me "_nea to nil". Do you have an idea why I might be getting this?

Are you talking about the last attached file?

Start the command an pick the object in question,

no other actions between.
