Insert in paper space then you can't see in model space, that's how it works.

Hey,

Probably they are zoomed out very far. Try zoom extents by double clicking your roller mouse or typing Z enter, then E for extents.

Why are you inserting DWG files into layouts? Are your DWG files show content that is no bigger than a sheet of paper in size?
Or do you need help using both XREFs and LAYOUTS/Viewports in AutoCAD?

Let us know.

Are you able to view the drawing in a viewport in a layout?

Always save a copy of the drawing before trying anything suggested here.

Most likely you have some stray geometry, for example something at 0,0 while the bulk of your geometry is in the thousands, etc.  Try using zoom center and entering a known good coordinate, then zoom out slowly till you see the extents of what you expect.  Then carefully enter erase all, enter R for remove, then window the good parts.
