Huge text in command line

AutoCad 2017, Student version.  Command line text is huge and changing fonts in Options does not help.  Uninstalled program and reinstalled.  Everything was fine until I closed and reopened program.  Large text reappeared.  Any suggestions?

Try to adjust the settings within the registry:

regSettings.jpg

Change the Height by double-click the reg key, change the radio button to Decimal. Once set to decimal, type the height you want it to show up as...

ChangeValue.jpg

Hope that helps.

Hi,

>> AutoCad 2017

May I assume:

  • you don't have installed AutoCAD Update 1.2
  • you do have a 4k display (at least more than 1920x1080)
  • you do have your Windows text size (DPI scaling) set to > 125%

...in that case please install the AutoCAD Update I mentioned above.

Tried your suggestion. Walked through Regedit and found Command Line.  Changed radio button to decimal and then 10.  Nothing changed on AutoCad screen.  Command line bar nearly twice the size of its adjoining bar with the wrench and X.  After I type a few consecutive commands, command bar reaches up into middle of workspace.

I do have a 4K display.  Went into settings and changed text to 125% and it was awful....I would call it unusable.  I would like to install the update, but don’t know how.  This is a brand new computer that I just installed AutoCad 2017 on.  Would it not have the latest updates?

Hi,

>> awful....I would call it unusable

Because of which reason?

>> Would it not have the latest updates?

If you have not installed the update ... then no.

>> I would like to install the update, but don’t know how.

Start Autodesk Desktop App (is installed with AutoCAD by default), make sure you are logged in and wait a few minutes to let it search for updates and show you the ones ready to install.

You need the 2017.1.2 update: you have to manually install it, it doesn't happen automatically.

Or you need to knock your display down from 4k to HD format (1920x1080) if you cannot figure it out.

I went to display and changed resolution to 150%, as far down as I could go and keep a reasonable looking display.  Went into account and the only things available for 2017 Student Version were 2 service packs which I downloaded and installed. Still not sure if these are the recommended 1.2 updates, but that’s all there is.  AutoCad is more useable and the command line is more reasonable, but the navigation bars are minuscule. Very disappointing.  My new Dell XPS15 was recommended by an “expert” who I thought knew enough about AutoCad to recommend.  Not sure whether to be unhappy with the new Dell (its great other than AutoCad) or be unhappy with AutoCad for not keeping up with hardware technology.

Hi,

Please start AutoCAD ... command _ABOUT and show us the screenshot from that dialog so we know what is currently installed

Have you tried my suggestion about Autodesk Desktop App?

Update 1.2 should be available in https://manage.autodesk.com ==> "Product Updates", but if you can't find it the Desktop App should 😉
