Hi,

Command Insert (I), then just browse the dxf file and insert it at the location you want.

(make sure you change the file type in the dialog to DXF)

Please go through the screen cast.

Cheers,

I think you can' overlay dxf file but you can insert it using the "insert" command, browse to the files and make sure you change the file type in the dialog to DXF. Create a new layer for each dxf and insert them on their own layer.

But if you want to overlay it convert the dxf to dwg file and overlay it as and xref.

Note:  Inserted dxf file will turn into block. Always use reference point specially if it's a composite drawing.

Thank you.Smiley Happy

Hi @Anonymous,

The types of documents you can use as overlays include DWG, Image, DWF, DGN, and PDF. Sadly, DXF format is not an option.

You have some options though:

  • Insert the DXF as a block
  • Save the DXF as a DWG file
  • Insert the DXF as a block into a new file and xref that file into your current one.
