How to open back-up copy.

I am running 2008 Version. I just lost lot of my work when the drawing froze up. Ther were some error message popiing up and asking me close the drawing. I closed and saved the drawing and then opend and worked on. Last counple of hours I do not get any warning message and suddenly drawing froze up. I had to close the computer and thus I losr all unsaved work.

My Back-up file saved as ac$ extension. I see the back up files and I tried to open thru Drawing truview and Autocad withour luck. Both cases it said the file could not be found.

I could not attach the .bak file.  Can anybody open this file in AutoCad? What should I do so that in future if this happenes I still will be able to open the back-up file?

Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Merry Christmas!

You just need rename the file from *.sv$ (or *.bak) to *.dwg.

Select the file in Windows Explorer, then press F2 to rename it.
