how to make table text annotative

I am so tired of dealing with AutoCAD tables. No matter what text style or text height I set in the table style, the table's text height always ends up being a value that I can't figure out.

If I choose an annotative text style, what is the purpose of the text height value in the table style? Regardless of what I set it to, it seems to have no effect on the table text.

AutoCAD tables are the weirdest feature in the weirdest software on the planet.

Tables are not annotative regardless of what text style you choose.
