I have a rectangular viewport. I want to add some vertex to make it irregular. However, when I keep my cursor on an endpoint for a while, there is no ADD VERTEXT option shows up.

draw your irregular shape over the origin VP then use VPCLIP command to switch the origin to the new shape .

You can also select the viewport, right click, select 'Viewport Clip' (runs VPclip), then choose Polygonal and draw in the new shape of the viewport.
