How to edit a dimension style

Hello everyone,

I am creating a dimension style, and I want the following:

  • If I create a vertical line dimension, the text should be at the left.
  • If I create an horizontal line dimension, the text should be at the bottom.

I haven't managed to do so, either way is at the left and at the top, or at the right and at the bottom.

Any clue on how to do so?

Thanks in advance

It isn't really a question of left vs. right or top vs. bottom.  It's just about whether the text is above or below the dimension line, relative to the more-readable text direction.  To do what you want will require defining separate Styles, one with the text above for use in vertical dimensions, and one with it below for horizontal dimensions.  But then you always have the question of which one to use for dimensions at other angles.

Or do what I've always done -- have the "vertical" [also in relation to the more readable text direction] text position centered on the dimension line.  Then none of that will matter.

@sergio_panadero_bautista One DIMSTYLE cannot do all of that: so how would you like to proceed? See the other reply for a workaround if having one single DIMSTYLE is more important that anything else.

Thanks for the replies, I have changed the layout of what I was drawing, so with the DIMSTYLE would write always at the bottom. If I need top (for vertical) and bottom (for horizontal) now I know I have to make 2 DIMSTYLES.

Thanks again
