Good day everyone!
is there any way to customize the appearance of this Line (please see below image)?
Actually i exported my P&ID drawing from AutoCAD P&ID to Autocad. And when I open the drawing the software (software link) line appearance is not correct.
autoCAD P&ID drawing:
normal AutoCAD drawing
thank in advance!

Hi,
share a .dwg with this one line, it's easy to check the issue (for some).
Sebastian
It would also be helpful to include the .lin file that shows the definition of this linetype called “software”
That looks like a missing .shx file containing the shape definition for the circle. But I notice the scale of the dashes on the right is different from the left in the "wrong" image, whereas it appears the same in the "right" one. So something else is going on -- the converted one is not actually from the same file as the unconverted image? two different linetypes that happen to be defined the same way in one situation but differently in the other? two different linetype definition files? something else?
A small sample drawing, and the linetype definition file [or files?], would be needed.
it's the same linetype actually but i don't know why it become like that when i converted to autoCAD.
my colleague is trying to modify the acad.lin, he is still working on it...
attached is the acad.lin that he modified but still he didn't get the linetype that i want 🙂
attached are the .dwg and .lin files
Still missing is the shx shape file. That’s been the problem all along. Attaching the dwg and lin do not correct the problem
so I modified the Software linetype definition which shows it's using shape file called ltypeshp.shx, saved it in a separate file and called it Software1.lin
*SOFTWARE1,Software Link -- O -- O -- O --
A,.25,-.45,[CIRC1,ltypeshp.shx,x=-.1,s=.1],-.45,1
I used the LINETYPE command and selected Load button, then the File button and I choose my revised Software1.lin linetype file, then on the Available linetype window I selected Software1 to be inserted into the drawing.
I then selected all similar objects matching the current Software linetype, changed all the Linetype scale to 1 and then the Linetype to Software1. I also changed the LTSCALE to a value of 5 and now it looks like it matches your original look:
The SOFTWARE linetype definition in that posted modified acad.lin file is exactly the same as AutoCAD's FENCELINE1 definition -- same shape, same file, same numbers. If other AutoCAD linetypes involving shapes work, then the ltypeshp.shx file must be available, and it should work. If the file is missing, then ZIGZAG and TRACKS and so on should also not work.
But assuming the file is found, is there some reason not to just use FENCELINE1 instead, since it's identical?

no... we should follow the software linetype as it is in the P&ID legend that needs to follow. 😞
Sadly, this is not the forum for the now defunct P&ID variant of AutoCAD, so you're just getting feedback here from fellow AutoCAD end users that do not use that source software.
If the P&ID need is critical, you'll have to find folks that used to use it to ask for guidance: your post's title is not going to attract any that might drift in here. You might get more help in the P3D forum that is supposedly where Autodesk pushed all the P&ID users towards https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-plant-3d/ct-p/2046
You’re welcome and glad to have helped…cheers!!!
