How to change colour of text outline for laser cutting?

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have drawn some text for CNC laser cutting and the colour of the outline is black. When I put the cursor over the letters it says, Colour:Black, Layer: Defpoints, Linetype: Bylayer.

I tried to change the colour from black to white but it would not let me, I am new to autocad so I might be doing something wrong.

Has anyone got any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous,

Color 7 is unique in AutoCAD as it will display black on a white background and white on a black one. Try using color 255 to see if that works with your process.

Hi,

>> I tried to change the colour from black to white

Color 7 (which shows as black AND white) is one special color, that is the opposite of the background. So you can't use color 7 in that case. If you want to have anything real white you can use the true color tab and select e.g. 255,255,255 to get a clean white, but make sure in that case you are not working on white background, otherwise you would not see the text.

To your thread title:

>> change colour of text outline

AutoCAD's fonts do not have outlines, it's just one text with one color (no differentiating between outline color and filling color).

You might use ExpressTools function TXTEXP (>>>details<<<) to get outlines from a text (which needs a bit or reworking afterwards) ... that gives you separate outlines for your truetype font based text objects.
