I have a lot of nodes that I want at the same Y position

they're all at a bunch of different Y positions so if I use move or displace I have to do it individually

if I were trying to make them all have the same Z position without messing around with their XY positions I'd change their elevation but I don't know how to do that to change all their Y positions without altering their ZX positions

plz save me the 20 minutes of struggle I have a day

I thought maybe I could just draw a line and move them all orthogonally down to it but I still have to do it individually (albeit without struggling with measuring the distance to the line each time), but I thought there might be a yet swifter option.

edit: in fact trying to draw a line and having orthogonal snaps only and nearest on still won't let me snap a node to a point on the line without the possibility of it moving on another axis (which I guess would make it not orthogonal so idk what's going on there)

Select the Points, and in the Properties palette:

pick in that Position Y slot where it says *VARIES* and enter the Y coordinate you want.

It may be the only way to do it to multiple Point objects at once, "out of the box."  It can be done in other ways with some code defining a command, if you prefer that.
