Help On Drawing Lines in Paper Mode

I'm new to Autocad and still trying to figure out the simplest things. In order to enter text on the side of a drawing (like adding your name date and other stuff) to the drawing on the sheet, I  need to change from Model to Paper mode.

Once in this mode I can easily enter the text I need. I noticed some spaces on the sheet ar too big and wanted to make them into smaller boxes to more efficiently enter multiple text (see pic below). I managed to add a line shown below. But don't understand how to move/shift it to make it act as a divider between Name 2 and Name 3 below?  The current box is too big/a waste of space> Need to add several single lines of text to the sheet and make it look more presentable.

So how to move this line I created? AutoCad keeps snapping the base point to a corner and not the mid point between Name 2 & Name 3.  Basically how to add lines as text separator while in Paper mode below?

Need to understand how to do this because also need to add a small image file to the larger rectangle above.

When using the MOVE command, use the proper snap setting.

Know how in the videos in these links:

Thanks for the follow up but this didn't resolve the issue. Even after turning on the "midpoint" snap, the line will not connect level to the other side. So the upper rectangle is bigger than the lower one. Again I'm in text/paper mode so unsure if this has something to do with the issue. Why can't you simply just DRAW simple lines/shapes on the area where the text should be? Why does it have to be so damned complicated?

@morrisonj666RXY ,

If possible, attach the drawing for all to troubleshoot.

Check that it's not on a lock layer?

May I ask, did you take a class yet? It helped many of us to get beyond these core function usage queries.

On to your post:

Is your titleblock (all of those original lines) in modelspace or paperspace?
I'm not asking about your text (which is as you stated is in paperspace).

And those red positions need to be something you can snap to, are you just aiming for the middle of those two text elements?

And if I may add: you seem to have a lot of lines floating around in that titleblock too, that whole revisions/date/description portion looks very "float-y" too.

1. I'm assuming the Title block aka everything I'm trying to add (including text), shapes (i.e. that line) and ultimately a small image file are in paper space. Because it's not possible to access that area in model space. And I assumed this needed to be the case because a YT video indicated this was how you should add text to a drawing (As I can't type anything in that area in model space mode).

2. Those red positions: I drew these on the image file that I uploaded. In order to show where I want the endpoints of that line to be moved/relocated to. The program won't let me put the line endpoints there to make 2 even and smaller rectangles

3. the numerous floaty lines is probably left over from trying to recreate smaller rectangles as explained in 2. I don't know how to draw a simple, single line so I'm ending up with multiple lines.

Regarding your question on taking a class: No I haven't taken a class other than what's on YT. And these aren't very insightful. They do a lot of fast clicking while talking so have no idea if they're pressing say <shift> then R. Click mouse button or <shift> <ctrl> and/or click hold L. mouse button etc.

It's extremely frustrating not to be able to do something this simple. Just selecting a shape, pointing on the drawing/text area where you want to draw, the clicking the mouse should be all there is to it. And yet there appear to be over 2 dozen menu buttons to turn on/off just to get something this simple accomplished.

Sorry for raging but I'm venting because I'm AutoCad illiterate and not a tech person. I don't care to use AutoCad ever again once done with this tasking. So I'm simply trying to write/organize text on a few darned drawings and call it a day.

Have you got Snaps turned on? Press F9 on your keyboard to turn them off, that might be stopping you from clicking to the end of something.
