HELP! autocad is not showing the drawing sheet or even the mouse (gridlines etc.

My AutoCad is not showing anything(i can't even see the gridlines). I can't see my mouse but i can type a command but it wont show on the screen. For example, i can click anywhere to make a line but the line and mouse pointer won't even show. My screen is basically except for the upper part which is the layout tabs

is this a new installation or was it working well before and now some updates, other applications, ... were installed?

As you seem to have no customization you might start with reset settings to default as shown >>>here<<<.

yes this is a new installation of autocad 2016 64-bits
are there other solutions other than resetting ? I've tried resetting the
application but its still like that

Have you installed the updated for AutoCAD 2016 too?

Another option, in case your graphic system is not fully compatible with DirectX, you might try to start AutoCAD without hardware acceleration as described >>>here<<< (using switch /nohardware).

What did you do to "reset" ? Did you try a Repair? I assume you tried turning it off and back on again right? AutoCAD will often lose it's crosshairs and you have to restart AutoCAD. Did you change the color settings any?

i tried everything for the third time with the re-installation but the one
that worked best for me is switching the hard drive to no hardware

thank you for your feedback!

If disabling hardware acceleration helped, then it's most probably a graphic card that is not supported or a driver that is not fully compatible with DirectX. In that case sometimes updating the graphic card driver helped (or downgrade, if you have the most current one).

But in case you only have small 2D projects, working without hw-acc is ok.
