Hi,
I am currently a student who uses AutoCAD for various design projects.
Last semester when i first installed AutoCAD 2016 it worked fine and i used it all semester, no problem. I have not used it since, in this past week i tried opening the program to use it again. However the program will not open and is just suck on the initial loading screen. I tried repairing it like the website said, twice, and that was no use. I also performed the usual shut down and restart of the computer its self and that was not any better.
How can i solve this problem?

Is this a student or commercial license?
Is it a perpetual license or the desktop subscription (rental)?
In other words, how did you acquire it and are you sure you still have rights to run it?

I purchased it, it is a perpetual student license.
I purchased it, it is a perpetual student license.
Hi @Anonymous,
I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!
What steps have you taken to repair your AutoCAD install? What is your operating system?
When you start your program at the bottom of the startup window do you see if it is hanging on activation?
Try this, disable your Windows firewall and try to launch.
Next, try a Reset Settings to Default
Lastly, create a new user account on your computer and logon with it and start AutoCAD.
Please let me know if any of these steps are successful.

I am operating on windows 7. I followed the repair steps that were given on the website. these including going to Programs and Features, finding acad, right clicking on it and selecting uninstall/change. And then selecting Repair on autodesk.
i do not know what you mean by "Hanging or Activation" on the bottom of the window , i am sorry. On the Bottom of the window it initializes and then displays "Loaging..." but then it gets stuck at that point.

Hi @Anonymous,
It sounds like it is getting stuck trying to verify your license.
I suggest you look at this page, go to the bottom and go to the licensing section to see if they can get you some help.

sorry for the confusion on the license. i do have the student version, and yes it was free, what i meant when i said i "purchased" it was that i acquired it individually. opposed to getting it in class at school. and another correction sorry i use windows 10. i was thinking of another computer. i apologize!

Hi @Anonymous,
I suggest that you go through the steps in this article. I believe your licensing might be corrupt. Deleting the file described and then reactivating your license should resolve the issue.
Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.
