Hatching Between Versions

I have recently updated to AutoCAD 2018 and have continued to work on my drawings as I did in my previous version (2014). However, a coworker still using 2014 noticed some deformed hatching around one of my blocks. I did not intentionally create this hatching and does not even exist (as far as I can tell) in my version. The biggest problem is when selecting the hatch in an attempt to delete, the program freezes and I have to restart. I have deleted the block (not the hatching around it), ran a PURGE, an AUDIT, and OVERKILL with no luck. Any ideas?
