I would like to know if it is possible to make the background color transparent without changing the hatch as well. I am currently on Autocad 2018.

I have added a dwg.

Hi,

since you want to change the Transparency for the background hatch ( Red , 84 ) i suggest ( for printing issues ) to edit and reduce the Screening  in your plot style for those two color .

Will this change the way my lines plot if I had red lines?

Yes ... for that you may need to select a unique certain color for those transparencies hatch .

Hi,

No, you can't define different transparent values for the hatch lines and the hatch background.

I would suggest to create 2 hatches, one with pattern "SOLID" and your transparency value and a second with lines or what ever you have a primary hatch.

As hatches are able to follow the base geometry (if associative is on) you should not have issues when the geometry gets modified, you only need to make sure that the draworder is updated so the solid hatch is behind your line hatch.
