Hatch - Set Boundary issue

I have a dwg full of hatches that aren't associative. I thought I could just "generate boundary"  then "set boundary" to make them associated with the polyline but that isn't case. When I select the hatch, the associative option is greyed out. I don't mind redoing the odd one but it's getting kind of tedious.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

Hi,

wrong? nothing.

generate boundary don't offer such an option, it's just for create new boundaries objects, based on the hatch data.

There is no command to "re-assoc" hatchs with existing objects.

If possible for you: Share this file (or just the relevant hatchs and "boundary" objects) and cross fingers

Community users like me can take a look, because for some "simple" situations, it is possible to use a tool to do this.

there is an option with command line version of the HatchEdit command to generate a pline boundary and then have this associated with the hatch:

_-HATCHEDIT

select your hatch without a boundary

hit Enter to complete selection

Enter letter B to recreate boundary

Hit Enter to accept Polyline as default

When prompted to associate hatch with new boundary enter Y

Now your hatch is once again associated to the boundary
