Hatch has no area untill clicked?

Hey there,

I've got a very strange problem. Like the title says: I've got all hatches in a drawing. But they don't have area. However this isn't because of known reasons. I know that because, when I just select a hatch, grab a point, click on it (don't change its position), deselect it, and select it again, it suddenly DOES give the area.

Anyone knows how to deal with this in a smart way? Because the file I'm working with now got something like 1000 hatches. And this isn't the only time I work with this kind of file.

By the way, the hatches are generated by the program FME.

Thanks.

You may have answered your own question. If I use HATCH command to create hatches in your file I see no issues at all.

What does ABOUT command list as your AutoCAD version? Post a screenshot of that pop-up.

Are you telling that if you place your cursor over an area, it won't show the Hatchings until you click on the area...?

Thanks and Regards,

Rushabh Thakkar.

LOL, no that's not what i'm saying. I might not be the smartest kid in class but come one🤣. If you would have downloaded the .dwg you would have known...

What I'm saying is: I select the hatch, check properties, no area. Then I grab one of the boundary points, click it one time without moving it, then deselect, select again, check properties, and it does give an area.

It almost makes me feel like the area is not given at first because the hatch has never been edited, so it hasn't been calculated yet by autocad. I've tried some other edits, but that won't work. Expecting that, when there would be a certain command with which you can 'edit' the boundaries of multiple selected hatches at once, this might give a working solution. BUT don't know if such an command exists.. can't think of one.

Not a fix, your issue is the way the hatches were created by the 3rd party tool, but your 2017 is missing the latest update, go ahead and install it.

Are you by default saving your DWG file format to a lower variant?

What the file you posted created in C3D?

Reach out to the 3rd party tool developer for assistance with your issue in the meantime.
