Grouping issue

Two drawings, one groups ok, the other does not. Have checked Pickstyle = 1, for both. Have checked  Option - Selection - Object grouping - both are ticked. Anyone have any other suggestions as to where to look - any help appreciated, thanks?

What version of AutoCAD are you using? Meaning AutoCAD 2016, AutoCAD 2017, AutoCAD 2018 or AutoCAD 2019?

Open up your commandline (CTRL+F2) and look for an error message when you group in the file that does not work, find out what is going on.
