Greyed out background in Paper Space

First time posting, very new to autocad.

Working through some college work at home, and when I download + open my drawings + template the area around the viewport is now grey when it was white. This is my first time using Cad on this Pc.

Also the templates seemed to have been moved around as seen in the second image

The "white" rectangle is your chosen page size for the printer/plotter chosen in PAGESETUP command, and your content that is not lined up with that white area simply got moved for whatever reason (most likely a printer/plotter driver changed or a page size changed). It can happen to all of us.

So what are the differences between the two computers/PCs and Printer/Plotter chosen?

And yes, you can just move the content back to where it needs to be in the meantime.

The pc was a pc I was using in college, as far as I know we've to use an A4
template for the paper space. Sorry what I dont understand what you mean by
plotter?

Run command: PLOT

Compare Printer/Plotter you see at school vs what you see at home:

Great thanks think I understand , I’ll not be able To compare until I’m
back in next week , if I was to continue with the grey surrounding the
background should the drawings and viewports be fine ?

It's fine until you need to PLOT. That's when you'll need to make sure it looks right.

Oh right, , Im just unsure of which way to have the page set up. I dont think that they're actually being printed it says on the marking rubric that the drawings should be to an interational standard.

if no printing or pdf creation is required, then you're good to go.

Hi @dylan051

<<the area around the viewport is now grey>>

The gray area is the default appearance. The white area represents a hardcopy of your A4 sheet and the gray represents the desktop your sheet sits on.

<<templates seemed to have been moved around>>
You can re-center your template like this=>Click Apply=>Click Preview.
