Font is not working in AutoCAD 2017

I have AutoCAD 2016 on my desktop but 2017 on my laptop. Our office font, Optima, only seems to work when I open a file on my desk top. The exact same file will show a generic font when opened on the laptop. I know the font is installed because it works in other programs. Optima doesn't even show up in the font drop down menu. I've read some articles online about OpenType fonts not always working in CAD. Since it works in the 2016 version, I assumed it would work in the 2017 version. Any ideas on why this is happening? Do you know how to fix it? Thanks.

Which OS on Desktop, which on Laptop
(if Standardfont, so we can test it)

Which Font Font?
In Style: which Style - in Style Dialog, right of Fontname
Or better upload a small sample deg (delete all except one of the (M)Text objekts.

In Acad you translate FontA to FontB, but your posting sounds like there is a missing-alert and so it is another problem with that font.

You talk about OTF ? OTF are not supported, in 2016 too.
Only OTF with TrueType outlines can used to display that TT outlines:

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

OpenType fonts do not work in AutoCAD. I attached a free Optima TTF font that I found on the Internet. Please install this in Windows by extracting the files from the ZIP. Then right click on the font name and select install.

Please let me know if this is now accessible in your AutoCAD.

Thank you, that's helpful. To be more specific, the font is Optima LT Std. It might be different.

Hi @Anonymous,

I suggest that you will need to find that specific font in a TTF format in order for it to work properly with AutoCAD.

Any reason you are unable to copy the file from your desktop's Windows Fonts folder to your laptop Windows Fonts folder? Is there a challenge you're not mentioning perhaps? All you need is a thumbdrive (or email it to yourself).

Let us know what is really going on.
