Floating Attribute

Hello AutoCAD Geniuses.

I've been using AutoCAD a long time... a long time.  From time to time I've seen this issue, but finally have had enough and want some advice.

I have a block (actually a family of blocks), see the video, 4 bubbles, each containing an attribute called TAG.  I have 4 of them because they CAN have unique values.  Doesn't matter anyway, I've seen this problem even if the attribute tags are unique.  I have this block in a drawing from which I populate my tool palettes, but it also resides as a wblock in a shared location.  In this palette drawing, if I edit an instance of the block, all of the 4 tags work just fine.  If I place an instance of it directly from the file location, all 4 tags work.  If I pull THE SAME BLOCK (already defined in the drawing), from the palette, one of the 4 tags jumps to hide underneath one of the others.  Always the same one.

In the video, the first two blocks you see were copied and pasted (after a Purge) from the palette repository drawing.  You can see they edit just fine.  I add a third one from the palette (SAME BLOCK), and you can see the tag moves.  If I explode, it returns to base.  If I Burst, it stays under the top tag.  Is this really weird, or do I just need another cup of coffee....

Screencast will be displayed here after you click Post.

-> You " just need another cup of coffee...."

Where is the link to the video or better: Your TP.dwg and your target.dwg

(the toolpalette-Source file content can deleted and purged, except the one block)

Position jumps to another attribut? Also if you move this one other attribut?

Then there is a coruupt information in your Data (i guess).

If it just jump arround the basepoint (attribut basepoint), i guess there is a font problem.

But without the data (and video).. hard to say

With the few facts we have, please:

Redefine the blockdefinition in your "TP.dwg" by using INSERT 'VLV_BLK_LM_SV_UP.dwg'

And create a insertion tool in your toolpalette.

Test it again.

And for more help - if it isn't solve, please upload your TP.dwg (delete all except the one block, then saveas)

(TP = Your ToolPalette source file)

@imadHabash

Same result.  Block brought into a clean drawing environment, from the palette storage drawing works fine.  Same block brought in from the Tool Palette, the attribute moves.

If I copy the block that works, it continues to work.  If I copy the floater, it continues to float.  Like 2 different definitions of the same block.  But if I purge, only one definition is found.

I am on 2020, but this has been a problem for years so I don't think it has anything to do with release.

I have tried removing the block from the tool palette, and placing it there again from one that I know works, but as soon as I put it on the palette, it is broken.

Then, perhaps, there is a data error. No problem for INSERT, but a problem for the insertion function of toolpalette.

Please Upload a file with this block.

I should also mention that, in attempting to solve this, the block was completely deleted and purged from the source drawing.  Redrawn from the ground up, and placed clean on the palettes from the new source block.  Same problem repeated itself.

And still no block posted?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Is it better with this file as source-file?

The issue is pretty much the same in 2016.

I think that you're basically asking for troubles by defying all tags same. Rename that and your problem is gone.

BTW it's not just the issue you've described, watch another... SCREENCAST

@ВeekeeCZ

I can not replicate this on my side (with other versions), but i am sure the problem

is not the double tags. "The Blockdefinition" is stored a little bit with problems

(i don't know what or where exactly and i am not interested in searching because i have no hope to find useful informations).

Can you replicate it in my file?

So far so good.... may I ask what you found?

So: Is it working better?

I have found nothing because:

And what i did:

Just wblock the blockdefinition and redefined the intern block by this new created dwg, nothing more.

Your file is good.

While working with the original file, when I added the block as it was (which is just an anonymous block "*U8") to the ToolPalettes and then when inserted to another file, I experienced the same issue. (C3D 2016 as ACAD here)

But now, I inserted the definition to the original file (without any attribute filling), that definition I added between tool pallets, then it behaved as expected.

The issue presented in my screencast still persist.

So my suggestion is - make sure that you add the original block (not an anonymous dumplicate) to the ToolPalettes.

In general, I would try to avoid multiple same tag names if possible.
