Find source object in model space of a viewbase object in paper space

My model has several parts and the drawing contains 25 tabs.  How can I select a 2D object in paperspace and locate the 3D source for that object in model space?  I am using AutoCAD 2024.

You can find the object by editing the viewbase selection. You can either double-click the viewbase or right-click and select edit. Once there, click model space selection. This will bring you to the location of the item in model space.

When I double click the viewbase object the following appears in the command
line:

VIEWEDIT Select option [sElect Hidden Lines Scale Visibility eXit] :

When I enter an "E' for select and then enter, I get the prompt "Select is
not supported by the model or view type."

When I right click on it the command.VIEWEDIT appears and the prompt "Select
view". When I select a view

It carries me right back to "VIEWEDIT Select option [sElect Hidden Lines
Scale Visibility eXit] :"

I haven't found a prompt that reads "model space selection" nor have I found
an option to edit.

It is a large structural steel configuration.  I can't share it as I've signed a NDA with the client.  So I created a simple drawing with four geometric shapes on it for trial.  I opened layout1 and used viewbase to insert 2D drawings of one of the objects.  Next I double clicked on that object in layout1, entered E for sElect and got the same message, Select is not supported by the model or view type.  Here is the drawing.

Flash - I just tried it in AutoCAD 2021 and it worked.  For some reason it isn't working in AutoCAD2024.  Is there a system variable that I need to change?

Hmmm... ill have to test it on a 2024 system and see if I get similar results.

In the meantime here is a list of the new commands and system variables for 2024
