Feet/inches not working-Setting???

I have a student that cannot use feet and inches to draw accurately. When she puts in feet and inches it is oversized, but when she uses a decimal point (4.6 instead of 4'6) it seems to be accurate. Her units are set to architectural, so that isn't it. Is there a setting I should be looking for?

That was the first thing I asked the student, it is set as architectural.

You and they read this together https://blogs.autodesk.com/autocad/how-to-use-metric-and-imperial-in-autocad/
The use DWGUNITS to set the file in question to inches.
Then ensure the student is drawing at 1:1 scale.
Once all that is done, use UNITS command to set to ARCHITECTURE units, then start DIMSTYLE command and do the same there.

If you both are still not getting there, you will need to post the student's DWG file for all of us to examine.

Thanks, I think I figured it out. The student was saying settings were correct but I don’t think they were. Teaching remotely can be a challenge. There were some other things wrong with the drawing, too.

screensharing on Zoom/Teams/Whatever is what we do to "help" remote users fix problems beyond what they think is enough to do it 😉
