(fatal) Error Plotting DWG to PDF

Hello,

When making a drawing I always plot it to .PDF using AutoCAD's ''DWG to PDF'' option.

I do this several times just to check my work, look at it as a checkprint.

This DWG to PDF always works out perfect for me, for lets say 5 checkprints. When I try to make the 6th checkprint it gives me an error. The PDF won't generate.

When I try it again I get a fatal error and AutoCAD shuts down.

The drawing is recoverable and repairable and works fine with doing these checkprints again for a while, until the above stated problem repeats itself.

It is getting a bit annoying and I can't really figure out what the problem is.

I have tried searching for a solution but haven't found any.

I hope someone will be able to help.

When this happens does it happen with drawing of a particular content? In other words something like does it only happen to drawings with xrefs or certain types of xrefs, or does it only happen on title sheets etc. or is this just a frequency based thing that happens strictly after 5 drawings every time.

I honestly don't know if it's happening in drawings with particular content.
I just found out the problem starts to occur when making several checkprints of the same drawing in a row.

Workflow:

Making the drawing -> checkprint in pdf.
adjusting -> checkprint pdf
adjusting -> checkprint pdf
etc. for maybe 5 times.
adjusting -> checkprint pdf -> error in plotting
try to checkprint pdf again -> fatal error

I will keep an eye out for the type of drawing and it's contents when it happens.

The current drawing in which it occurred has an Xref and transparent hatches, furthermore nothing ''special''

Thanks for your reply.

are you saving it to the same file name?

I have had similar issues when i left the PDF open and the plotter couldn't write over it. I have also had the problem because the computer thought the file was open when it wasn't (flaky network issue)

So far that actually works!

Even though I always close Acrobat Reader before making the next checkprint I always overwrite the previous checkprint (same names)

Due to your comment I've tried 10 checkprints, each of them named different and no errors.

After that I did another checkprint with the same name, overwriting the previous and boom, error...

My checkprints are located locally, not on the network but it still might have something to do with it, from now on I will name every print different.

Thank you!

I have had issues with adobe not closeing drawings but figured it was network, perhaps it just an issue with adobe.

I just searched adobe and they have similar issues. Some suggested it was a permissions issue in the temp folder other suggested it was antivirus caught checking the files...

Hi. I am facing the same problem. In my file, all layouts plot just fine, and my Title Sheet doesn't want to work. I have xref-ed in my .dwg Title Block, I have a lot of text typed on paper space, and have xref attached a .pdf and a .jpg file, and it doesn't want to plot to .pdf. Out of about 15 sheets, this is the only one with this problem. What am I doing wrong?
