Good Morning,
We have just installed AutoCAD 2019, which works fine with the default settings.
After migrating our 2018 settings and setting up our digitizer menus, it still works fine until we close AutoCAD. Re-launching AutoCAD fails with a fatal error every time.
I reset AutoCAD back to default settings and it works fine again in default mode, we can close and re-launch with no errors, but the moment we change the pointing device to Wintab Compatible Digitizer ADI 4.2-by Autodesk Inc, even without migrating our settings, we get the fatal error on re-launch.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous,
Thanks for the information. I don't see any other issues like this logged yet. Can you please prepare a NFO file and send it to me at john.vellek@autodesk.com? Please include in your email, a link to this thread so I can find it again. I would like to get this in front of the team so they can examine the issue.
Do you get the chance to submit a CER report also when the crash occurs? If so, please give me a report number so I can view the data that it has captured.
Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Hi,
Installing this wintab driver prevents the pointing device to be a digitizer and mouse, the setting we currently use on AutoCAD 2018. I had to reset my computer back to previous settings so I could continue working on 2018.

I am having the same problem. AutoCAD crashes upon startup after enabling the Wintab pointing device.
Win 7 64 bit....Latest Calcomp CADriver.
Have you found a fix yet?

HI @cadgroup2,
While the team works on this issue, I suggest trying a Reset Settings to Default to see if that gets everything up and running.

For others experiencing this issue, this is my workaround (Windows 7):
Perform am AutoCAD "Reset". When AutoCAD loads, configure for the Wintab pointing device, then make all your custom settings (buttons, toolbars, etc.). After AutoCAD is fully configured and customized the way the user desires, close AutoCAD & Export the Custom Settings: Start Menu-Autodesk-AutoCAD 20xx-Migrate Custom Settings-Export.
Steps 1- 4 below must be taken once AutoCAD is closed (i.e. each morning if you shut down your computer at the end of the day)
1. Perform AutoCAD Reset (Start Menu – Autodesk – AutoCAD 20xx – Reset settings to default.
AutoCAD automatically starts up.
2. End AutoCAD. (You cannot Import Custom Settings while AutoCAD is running)
3. Import the custom settings: Start Menu-Autodesk-AutoCAD 20xx-Migrate Custom Settings-Import.
4. Start AutoCAD, change pointer to Wintab, configure tablet areas.
Obviously not ideal, but if you really NEED your digitizer as I do, this works for me.

I just received a call from Autodesk informing me they have identified the problem. A fix will be included in the next Service Patch which should roll out in a month or two.
Thank you Autodesk! (sorry I forgot the name of the gentleman who called)
and
Thank you John Vellek for getting this in front of your team!

Good Morning,
I would like to know if there is any more news on the fix for the wintab problem with AutoCAD 2019. The last message in early June advised that Autodesk have identified the problem and a fix will be available in a month or 2. I still cannot see a new service pack available to fix this issue.
Thanks.
Michael Wilson.

Hi @Anonymous,
I believe this issue has been addressed in AutoCAD 2019.1 update. I don't have a tablet so I can't test on my desk but I am hoping you can verify if the last update has done the trick.

Good Morning John,
Yes, the 2019.1 update did solve the problem. We are now up and running with the wintab driver on our AutoCAD 2019 with no fatal errors on start-up.
Thanks for your assistance.

I am having similar problems just using a mouse. My installation of 2019 AutoCAD is a new download on a new computer. It is Product Version P.46.0.0. I installed an old copy of 2009 initially and had no difficulties. Now that have I downloaded AutoCAD 2019 I'm having a pointer problem. It seems that the trouble started up about an hour after I started using it. I did not migrate any settings. Now when I open AutoCAD I get the "Error with the Wintab Compatible Digitizer" message. I tried setting the pointing device to "Current System Pointing Device" but the error message immediately reappears and the selection automatically goes back to "Wintab Compatible Digitizer ADI 4.2 by Autodesk, Inc" The input options "Digitizer only" and "Digitizer and mouse" are grayed out. The error msg always appears upon startup and it has occasionally caused a fatal error upon startup. I tried a different mouse with no change. Twice after getting a fatal error msg I used change/install to do a reinstall. Each time it stopped the fatal error but did not correct the pointing device problem. I don't see anyway to check the build but the download was done a week ago directly from the Autodesk site so I assume it is the latest.

That appears to have resolved the problem. Thanks.
