Extending multiple lines not working

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello,

In my current drawings I am having a minor but slightly annoying problem in that I cannot extend multiple lines to a boundary line by lassoing the lines. ACAD forces me to do them singly. I thought it may be something to do with working a in local UCS and view (I'm drawing elevations referencing pointcloud) but the method works as normal for trimming lines. Anyone know why this might be?

In addition I find I am constantly having to Flatten the drawing to get either trim/extend tools to work in properly. I constantly get messages about lines not intersecting boundaries etc, even though when I check them they are all on the same plane.

I checked - my system is on 5. I changed it to 7 to see if there was any difference but the problem persists

Looks like it works in 2019 but not in 2017. I have to use 2017 as I am using kubit Pointsense plugin which is not compatible with later versions of ACAD.

use Project option in Extend command . i mean there is lines part of a closed polyline that will not extend . this is how it's work . but in general i can use cross section to extend multi-lines .

you're working under a special and strange drawing position !! So please ... mark the area ( lines ) that didn't work with you and guide us where to look exactly in your dwg ?

Hi,

I am able to extend the line at the place where you have pointed out. Can you check if the system variable "PICKADD" is set to "2" and then also try using the "FENCE" option when extended the line and see if it work. Type in the command "EX" and then select the objects now press "F" and then select the objects using fence to extend.

Also check if your AutoCAD is updated with the latest version.

Hi,

Yes the system is set to PICKADD 2. I tried the fence option and it still didn't work.

The command works properly in the latest ACAD but I have already stated I am using ACAD 2017 which is the latest version that supports the Pointsense plugin.

This is obviously a 2017 bug which it looks like I am going to have to suffer until this project is complete.

Hi,

I think you have mistaken. I asked if your AutoCAD 2017 is updated to the latest version🙂

Open the Autodesk desktop app and check if any updates are available for AutoCAD 2017. If it's updated then the problem could be with the add-on or a bug in 2017. You can contact the plugin developer and see if they can help you out with this.

There is no bug in R2017: but we are not all running "Pointsense plugin" either.

Either way R2017 also requires the "2017 Service Pack 2" to be installed, your ABOUT command in AutoCAD 2017 will confirm if you have this or not. Then you go get it if not here https://manage.autodesk.com/

Appears I only have the SP1 update. I will have to contact IT and go through a process to get the further updates - I have no installation rights on this PC.

Perhaps someone could try my drawing in a version of 2017 that doesn't have Pointsense (or rather Kubit Box) plugged in to see if the issue is still there?

There doesn't appear to be an SP2 for ACAD 2017...

Imad - does it work for you both horizontally and vertically? If so, the problem is probably being caused by my plugin.
