Export Layout to Model Space Drawing - Curves in Isometric Views

Anonymous
Not applicable

Greetings,

I have used AutoCAD 2016 to create a 3d model of HVAC ductwork.  I have created a couple of layouts showing a base elevation view with projected plan and isometric views.  I am attempting to export these layouts to new drawings using the EXPORTLAYOUT command.  The resulting drawings look great with respect to the elevation and plan views.  However, any curved lines from the isometric views are lost.  I've attached screenshots of what it should look like vs the actual result to help explain.  I have searched the forums and the general internet for a solution without success.  Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Morgan

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Is it possible to share a sample drawing that has this problem?  Are you using Viewbase to create the views and they are incomplete? If that is the case, try selecting the entire model and scaling it by 1.0001. Then try to recreate the views.

John,

Thank you for the welcome and assistance.  I am using Viewbase to create the views.  The views are complete in the layout of the original drawing.  The problem only occurs when I Exportlayout.  I've attached a sample drawing that exhibits this problem.  The model space and layout are similar to my drawing and the effect is the same when I attempt to export the layout.

Kindest regards,

Morgan

Use Flatshot to grab a isometric of the model.

Hi Morgan,

What version of AutoCAD are you using? I used AutoCAD 2018 and the export seems to work fine. Please see the attached file.

[EDIT] I have also tried this in AutoCAD 2017.1.1 Update with similar results.

John,

I am using AutoCAD 2016.  I have AutoCAD 2017 available, but I am very hesitant to upgrade in the middle of a large project.  Thank you for checking this in 2017; I look forward to the upgrade.  In the meantime I think I will use Flatshot per GrantsPirate's solution.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Kindest regards,

Morgan

John,

I followed your suggestion and installed 2016 Service Pack 1.  Now Exportlayout handles the isometric curves perfectly.  Thank you for your help.

Kindest regards,

Morgan
