export layout to model ... from a dwg originally exported from Revit

This one really has me stumped and have to figure this out to get paid otherwise I'm SOL and not employed for much longer. So someone please help (how do I get responses from Autodesk techs directly by the way??)

The short and sweet of it is I am a Revit user working for someone who needs me to export my Revit sheets to AutoCAD then "export layout to model" (ie the title block and scaled drawings all have to be in model space together and not seperated into model and paper space with viewports).

He is really old and uses Generic Cadd (lol!!) and other old software that doesn't recognize model and paper space and is 100% not gonna budge on this because he needs to archive all the drawings.

The problem I have is that every time I "exportlayout" there is always one viewport that gets excluded and does not show up in the exported dwg. It does this every time no matter what drawing or project I am exporting from. It seems to always be the the main drawing on that sheet or maybe the one that was placed on the sheet first in Revit. This is some kind of screwed up glitch because everything "exports to model" just fine except for one viewport every time and I can find no reason it would ignore one viewport and recognize the rest every time. It could be caused by the fact that it is an dwg exported from Revit?? I am soooo close to getting this to work except this one hangup.

I probably need help directly from Autodesk unless there is some bright soul out there who knows what to do. I dare you all to figure this one out ... you have been challenged 🙂 The first image is what the layout looks like before I "exportlayout" and the second image is what I end up with. The top right viewport (in this case) is excluded and everything elsce comes in fine. WTF?

Here is the original file (which was exported from Revit) and the resulting file when I "exportlayout" to model. I do notice that in the second file there is white box that could be some remnant of a viewport but is on a different layer than the rest of the viewport outlines. Thanks for your reply.

Hi @Anonymous,

Take a look at the file I created and see if appears correct to you. I deleted Layout 2 and then did the exportlayout.

John,

Your file looks correct but I can't repeat it on my machine. I deleted layout 2 and exported layout 1 like you said and the one viewport still doesn't come in. After studying it, there is something wrong with the viewport itself and my workaround is to just replace the viewport...copy that viewport up, delele the original viewport and move the copied viewport down in its place. It exported fine after doing that...not ideal and I can't "batch process" a group of files, but it works without too many steps. If you have another ideas please let me know. Thanks!

Just redraw a new viewport with command -VPORTS (do not copy the faulty one) and use MATCHPROP to match the properties of the faulty viewport, move it to the right position then delete the faulty viewport.

There must be something wrong with the faulty viewport.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am glad to see things are working. Layouts can get corrupted so it best to delete it and create a new one.
