Error when I edit text, mtext, or leader text

I'm running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2018 on Windows 10, and quite often (but not every time) I edit any form of text (text, mtext, or multileader text) I get an error:

; warning: unwind skipped on unknown exception

When this happens, my quick access bar grays out, my command line and ribbon freeze, and I can't do pretty much anything. Nevertheless, I can still edit the text I'm in. When I click out of the text, the ribbon still shows the text editor tab and the command line still shows me in the text edit command. Interestingly, if I just click on the command line (no where else works), it takes me out of the text editor and returns the quick access bar to it's normal appearance, though everything remains frozen. At this point, I have to close out AutoCAD and restart the program.

This happens on any drawing, it's not drawing specific. It doesn't happen every time I edit text though (maybe 5% of the time). I've tried, unsuccessfully, to figure out a common denominator in all the times I get this error, there doesn't seem to be any pattern. I've even tried repairing my installation of AutoCAD, without success.

Does anyone know what's causing this?

Something to check: in your current profile, ensure that the text editor application is set to "Internal" (Options, Files tab, Text Editor [etc.], Text Editor Application). This may be irrelevant, but at least it removes one unknown (for me).

Otherwise, what you are describing "sounds" like a memory issue.  Have you done any web searching for that message and eliminated any of the possibilities suggested by results?

There are many web results for this error, but none seem to be triggered by text editing. The only thing I found that seemed like it can make sense was that I might have to reset my CUI because apparently tweaking that can cause problems. I just finished doing that, so and I am checking right now if the problem persists.

Like this perhaps https://www.landfx.com/kb/autocad-fxcad/errors/item/3537-unwind-skipped-on-exception-access-violatio...
Or these https://www.google.com/search?q=autocad+warning%3A+unwind+skipped+on+unknown+exception

C3D2018 is not new: is this a sudden new problem on your system? There is no system wide or software reinstall fix for an occasional error, are you sure it is not related to specific files instead? Your guess would be as good as ours at this time.
