Hi. I installed Civil 3D Object Enabler when I was having an issue loading proxy graphics. Autocad stopped using proxy graphics, but I received this message upon opening the file:

"Exception in c:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2023\aecbase.dbx ARX C..."

Unhandled Exception c0000027 (c0000027h) at address e2b1cd29h."

I reset  AutoCAD settings to default. Now, when I open the file AutoCAD asks me if I want to show proxy graphics AND I still receive the same error message.

Thank you in advance for helping.

While you wait....

Whether you install an OE or not, I believe we are all best served with PROXYGRAPHICS and PROXYSHOW set to 1 all the time, but PROXYNOTICE can be set to 0 or 1 depending on whether you like to be alerted or not (you seem to find it distracting like I do).

What those three are is explained quite well in HELP if you are interested.

Thanks. All are set to 1. The file still crashes.

Here is a long list of the many ways to fix your problem file https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCA...

Or you can share it right here since many use your exact same software all day, perhaps they can notice something.

If your crashing is with ALL files, not just this one, you might have to go the long way and remove all Autodesk software then reinstall again: a quick test with a new Windows login with admin rights will confirm if that is what is needed.

Thank you. The crash is occurring with multiple files, although not all. It occurred with 2/3 of the files I tried to work on.

I guess my best course of action is to uninstall and reinstall CAD. But I am concerned that I will have the same set of problems after I uninstall/reinstall both CAD and the object enabler.

Is there anything I can do to make sure this goes smoothly?

Test with an all new Windows login (with admin rights) to confirm if that is what is needed with your current login, it is a lot quicker than a reinstall ever could be, and a great way to test out a solution.

Okay. Do you have instructions for how to do that?
