Equal Leg Angle Iron Library

I have the Southern African Steel Construction Handbook 2016 in front of me open at page 2.28 & 2.29

ANGLES (EQUAL LEG) DIMENSIONS AND PROPERTIES

I am drawing a 70 x 70 x 6 equal leg angle iron profile. Easy enough and once drawn I can put it into a library

for use at a future date.

Those of you structural detailers that work with these sections all the time, and are experienced at this, what is the best method of storing/creating these sections

1. Dynamic Blocks

2. Parametrics

3. Linking to a spreadsheet and pulling in values from there (can this be done in AutoCAD?, I know it can be done

in inventor-I use it often there)

Is there a free website that has already done this and will let you download it?

In Inventor I  would use iparts, but in autocad I am not too sure how best to approach this

Hi @MikeKovacik4928,

I would suggest trying this with dynamic blocks with Lookup Tables. Another way might be to simply assign Visibility states in a Dyanmic block.

Thanks John

I've been busy with freelance draughting and autocad training, on top of my normal day job, so haven't had a chance to

try it out yet. will do so soon, not so busy now, and do want to study dynamic blocks, I haven't

done too much with them up to now, and can see immense potential

Autodesk, in reply to your email, I am not finished with this one yet.
