Is the problem with one DWG file or ALL dwg files?
Is this a new installation of AutoCAD2017 or an existing install?

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having crashes when you try to print to PDF from AutoCAD 2017.  You mentioned that you receive an error message. Can you share that please?  Also, do you have the chance to submit a CER Report? If so, please tell me the report number.

Is your AutoCAD fully up-to-date using the Autodesk Desktop App or from your Account page?

How are you trying to produce your PDF? Are you using one of the built-in PDF drivers or a third-party PDF tool?

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

HI @Anonymous,

Thanks for letting me know that this seems to fail with any PDF driver. Please answer my previous questions about updates and whether this happens in all files.  If you like, you can use eTransmit to bundle a sample file or files along with the plot style you are using.  YOu can attach the resulting ZIP to a post so i can take a look at it for you.

Hi @Anonymous,

Did you submit those two error reports? If so, you will receive a report number. if you can provide the report numbers I can look up what might have caused your crashes.

What settings are you trying to migrate from 2007 to 2017?  There is no automatic way to do that but if you can give me some details I can maybe help you do them manually.

Hi @Anonymous,

Please run AUDIT on each file in the project to see if that prevents the crashing. It you can zip up a sample and attach it to a post I am happy to take a look at this for you.

If your data needs to be private or confidential, please email it directly to me at john.vellek@autodesk.com and please include a link to this thread in your email.

Since this is a new installation, go ahead and reinstall 2017, answer yes to replace everything, and start over.

Backup all of your customizations first to recover later once this PDF issue is fixed https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to...

Hi @Anonymous,

Why are you saving back to 2007 file format?  You potentially lose the fidelity of the newer drawing content.

Can you share one of your files that has a Pagesetup applied so I can see what might be causing the print problems?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for the drawing file.  I initially opened the file in AutoCAD 2019 and performed an Audit, Purge, and -Purge>Regapps.  I then removed all the Xref attachments. Next I ran -exporttoautocad to create a nice new clean version of the file. In the new file I reassigned all the fonts to Arial.

I applied a named Page setup that used the AutoCAD DWG to PDF and tried both capturing the fonts as well as converting to geometry. I used a builtin monochrome.ctb.

When I try to produce the PDF I see a dialog flash for a split second and then the session crashes and it generates two CER reports. In addition, it appears to start writing to the PDF file but stops when the crash occurs.

When I change the PDF driver to a non-AutoCAD one such as Adobe PDF, the PDF is produced properly.

I tested your file in AutoCAD 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, and AutoCAD Map 3D 2019  all with the same results.
