DWG to PDF plot issues

Hi,

Recently I had upgraded to AutoCAD 2016, and have  been encountering the following issue.

When every I pdf dwg using DWG to PDF plotter I have problems with text becoming blackened out. I had migrated all my CAD 15 setting into CAD 16. AutoCAD 15 did not have this problem

Referring to my attachments:

Numbers - All the numbers on my drawing as a background mask on them but only a few of them comes out with a black blackground (HNo. 70) where as the next number (HNo. 72) have no black background. Why is this happening?

Signs - All the signs have a wipeout behind them where as only this No Stopping sign comes out as shown. What might the reason for this?

This is a very frustrating problem. Welcome any advice on the matter,

Thanks

My coworker and I have experienced this random blackout of wipeouts as well.  Only happens with some wipeouts within a drawing, not all of them.  The funny thing is, the bug also affects the workaround where you use a hatch set to color 255,255,255.  We have other drawings with tons of wipeouts that have no problems whatsever, and then a few random drawings that have experienced this.

Also, this poster has the same problem:

I just want to clarify that this occurs only when using the AutoCAD 2016 PDF driver.  Our workaround is to use our Adobe PDF driver.

Hi,

Just want to clarify the problem is not solved therefore I'm still waiting for a final solution for the issue and not workaround. CAD 15 was just fine. no problem at all, seems not all upgrades are good upgrades.

Thanks

Text masking is not the only problem, it happens with wipeouts as well.

Hi,

What do you mean by driver?

By driver I mean the printer driver, which is what programs use to communicate with printers.  HP makes a printer driver for their plotters; Adobe makes a PDF printer driver for Acrobat; Autodesk makes PDF drivers for printing PDFs.

If system printers are hidden in AutoCAD, you'll only see .pc3 printers, which are customized settings for installed printers.  The AutoCAD DWG to PDF and AutoCAD PDF (2016 only) .pc3 files both utilize Autodesk-created drivers for creating PDFs.

I know what a driver is in general term but not sure what you mean by 'use our Adobe PDF driver'?? What do you mean by USE your Adobe PDF driver? Drivers are not something you can turn off and on when you want to use them.

In AutoCAD, Adobe PDF plots are not good quality. AutoCAD PDF and DWG to PDF gives very good quality pdfs but gives me the issue of blacked out things.

Attachment below list the plotters I have.

I think you may be using the word ADOBE like others use the word Kleenex.
Adobe is a brand, not a file format, the user you are questioning is simply stating that they prefer to use a third party PDF generating software with AutoCAD. You can buy or get for free these 3rd party tools of you want.

In your screenshot, Adobe PDF is the 4th option down after None.  You can use that "printer", which is made by Adobe, to create PDFs without the blackout bug.  For better quality, adjust the settings in "Properties..." (the button to the right of the printer selection pull-down).  These will typically be larger files and slower to open, but they'll be readable, so pick your poison.

Thanks for your assisstance and tips but Adobe PDF does not give the level of quality we need as our clients would point out when you zoom in the works and small details become pixelated.

I too am having problems. White text, mtext, hatching all coming out as black. In the Mtext, all text is white, however when plotted half is white and half is black. Go figure.... It doesn't seem to matter whether the colour is 255, or set to 255,255,255.  Very frustrating. Will have to go back to 2015 until this gets sorted out.

Check the Screening value in the Plot Style Table Editor. Mine for some reason was set to 0 for Colour 255. I changed it back to 100 and white now comes out as white!

AutoCAD 2016 SP1 seems to fix this issue for me:
