DWG to PDF plot issues

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

Recently I had upgraded to AutoCAD 2016, and have  been encountering the following issue.

When every I pdf dwg using DWG to PDF plotter I have problems with text becoming blackened out. I had migrated all my CAD 15 setting into CAD 16. AutoCAD 15 did not have this problem

Referring to my attachments:

Numbers - All the numbers on my drawing as a background mask on them but only a few of them comes out with a black blackground (HNo. 70) where as the next number (HNo. 72) have no black background. Why is this happening?

Signs - All the signs have a wipeout behind them where as only this No Stopping sign comes out as shown. What might the reason for this?

This is a very frustrating problem. Welcome any advice on the matter,

Thanks

Hello

I imagine that you haven't used the famous 255,255,255 color (which is the REAL white) as a mask just behind entities !?

So I think it is the problem because sometimes (even with with previous ACAD on PDFs) you can get the same problem with the standard white (Color = 7) as a mask ...

Maybe somebody will have a better idea and a solution for you ?

Hi,

Can you please post us your drawing file where you are seeing this problem. The PDF functionality has been enhanced in 2016. Did you try different options under the EXPORTPDF command.

Looking forward to your inputs.

Which PDF viewer are you using? It looks like you might have your viewer set to 'highlight" searchable text or hyperlinks etc. Post that PDF here too, let's all have a look.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I just tried EXPORTPDF function with different options but it still does not solver my probem. I have attached the dwg which is giving the issue.

I have also attached a pdf I have created with the viewport in the dwg.

Hi,

I have attached the pdf from the dwg I attached in my previous reply. I'm currently using Adobe Acrobat Pro to view the pdfs. Today the autoCAD issue are being seen in a new project. Text are becoming italic (as attached) the word LANE

Your DWG file is reporting fonts missing and seems to have content in it from a vertical version of AutoCAD: is that correct?

Removing the text mask inside those MTEXT objects seems to fix it here.

Thanks for your reply.

There might be fonts missing which I don't think is contributing to that problem.

I am aware that text masking solves the problem but this is not feasible as the text are overlayed on other plans which have lineworks behind the text.

What I do not understand is that all the other texts are same type of text and all have text masking but only a few of those text have the blackground problem. Shouldn't ALL the text have the same problem?

Autodesk need to look at this closer, as this is a a problem with only AutoCAD 2016. AutoCAD 2015 plotting does not have this problem.

Hi,

Can you please send me an ETRASMIT of the entire file and also if you have the missing font as Dean rightly pointed out. This might not be the cause but we need the enitre dataset to identify the source of the problem and provide you an update.

Looking forward to the files.

Hi,

For confidential reasons, I can post the entire set. The best I can do is the already posted dwg in my previous post.

I have already attached the file (property names) which is causing the problem. Surely the problem is not dependent on any of the files I can not post as the supplied dwg is independent of any other drawing.

Thanks

Sorry but can you let me know where I can find the following:

In the Plotter Configuration Editor, Device and Document Settings tab, Graphics node, Merge Control node

Thanks

In AutoCAD, type PLOTTERMANAGER and then go to DWG TO PDF.PC3 file and then modify the changes in the graphics properties as shown in the attached screenshot.

If you are okay for a secure file transfer, I can arrange an secure FTP for you and send you the details directly to your email to collect an etransmit of the entire drawing.

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions.

Hi,

My setting is already the settings as per your comment.

I can not sent through any design files to an external party.

You should not require anymore files as the problem is present in the files I provided which is independent of any other dwg I might have.

It seems I will need to downgrade to AutoCAD 2015. This is affecting all my and my collegues projects when creating a pdf i CAD 16.

Thanks

Thank you for submitting your question in our discussion forums.

The issue that you describe has been reported by other customers to Autodesk and is being researched by our development team.

Here is a workaround for the time being. Make a copy of the problematic wipeout or recreate the wipeout in the drawing. See video

We are still working on a fix for this issue. In the meantime can you try the following.

The workaround for now would be change the Text Mask color DIC 120.

Let us know, if you need further help.
