Hi @Anonymous,

Please tell me the version of AutoCAD you are using.  This symptom might be due to your system configuration but I suggest running RECOVER on the file before opening to see if that helps. You are welcome to ZIP it up and share.

If your data needs to be private or confidential, please email it directly to me at john.vellek@autodesk.com and please include a link to this thread in your email.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for emailing the file to me.  I see that it has some xrefs that apparently are mostly image files (some Excel files too).  This many image attachments can certainly slow things down. I don't have them and the file actually opened quickly.

Regardless, I found 254 AUDIT errors on this file. There were also 12012 zero length geometric objects and 202 empty text objects that I was able to purge.

You might consider moving some of the layouts to separate drawing files so you don't have so many image attachments and datalinks all in one file.

I will ship my cleaned version of  your file back to you. Please let me know if it shows any improvement.

Hi @Anonymous,

I sent back your clean drawing again.  (AUDIT, PURGE, and -PURGE>Regapps) It has numerous xrefs that you did not include and they have a variety of paths.  This might be causing some of the problems.

You also have a lot of layouts all in one file. This can be risky as corruption could make them irretrievable.

I am hoping you can etransmit the entire set of files to me so I can take a closer look.

Hello John, i have the same issue and its not xref or purging the drawing, it started out of the blue.  when i change tabs or zoom extense it goes into regenerated text a few times (please wait; reformatting text)  FYI I copy and paste files from Chief Architect and I dont know if that might be part of the proble.

Thanks you

AL

Most likely the problem if you cannot replicate it after a PC restart between other DWG files in the same program.
