drawing file is not valid

Hi!

Saved a projet I have been working for several days.

"drawing file not valid" appears when I try to open it.

.bak will not open either.

Autocad trueview does not work either : TranslationWorker-InternalFailure Unrecoverable exit code from extractor: -1073741831

Can not see the drawing in the preview window.

Have the same problem with 2 other projects. Just openned them, saved, and could not open any more.

Have reinstaled autocad, try to recover, insert, nothing solve the problem.

Hope you can help me! Thank you!

João

Try these many other methods to recover your files https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCA... , if none work though, where you are storing (or backing up/restoring) your files is corrupting them perhaps.

Hello,

Try to rename the .bak file to .dwg and then try to open it.

Hello @Anonymous

Welcome to the AutoCAD forum.

I understand that you can not open your drawing. Looking at your description (recover, insert, bak), you already went through some steps which are recommended for drawings that can not be opened.

Checking the article ""Drawing file is not valid" when opening a file in AutoCAD" these steps are mentioned too, but the article also provides other suggestions. Based on this, please check the article and the following points:

  1. Open files created in non-AutoCAD (third-party) applications in the native product and export to AutoCAD DWG format, if available.
  2. Check the file in a text editor such as Notepad and compare to a known-working drawing. If the first few rows are consistently different in format, this indicates irrevocable corruption, improper conversion, or wrong file type.
  3. Verify that the file storage location is working properly. Are they stored on a server or your local machine?
  4. Did you copy them in between, so that the copying process might not be completed in the past?
  5. Test opening the file in a different location, such as the local hard disk, to rule out network or cloud storage issues.
  6. Do you see a preview of the file as shown in the screenshot below?
  7. Check if you can partial open the file as shown in the screenshot below.
