Draw Order in 2019 Not Working

jserrato25YGE

I'm using AutoCAD 2019. In paper space, I inserted an image that will have text and objects in front of it. When I select the image and change the draw order to be in the back, it works, but as soon as I change tabs, it goes back to being in the front. I've never had this problems in previous versions. Any ideas on why this is happening?

I do the same thing but with 2017.  The 2016 release has som terrible test masking issues that were NEVER resolved.  Especially bad if you do DOT worrk and are committed to that particular state pack.

This hotfix does not solve all 2019 draw order issues.  Businesses have deadlines.  We don't have time to go back through hundreds of sheets to play copy and paste pattycake.  This is why I still have a copy of 2016 on my computer.  I never used 2017 because of the broken viewbase issues, skipped 2018 because I was too gun shy to upgrade, and now this.  This is nothing but free advertising for Solidworks.

The hotfix does not work for me. The issue for me was simple lines and polylines, not being able to keep them on top of other lines and polylines. If I did get them to appear, a simple pan out or in, and it goes back to where it was!!!  If i draw a new object, it'll end up under the same objects.  its as if the floor, in a grid, has some setting that 'keeps' it on top, no matter what you tell it or other objects to do.  any info on this would be appreciated.

The hotfix works. Check draworderctl and whipthread.

Please upload a SIMPLE example.dwg
Write a short "what to do" for us (what to do to see the issue).
Where do you draw (model?) Where do you see the problem, also modelspace?

PS: Current Version is 2019.1.0

CADffM,

thanks for your reply.  I draw in model.  I'm just a simple 2D user, nothing fancy. i do draw in the model.

after looking at you draworderctl, it was at 3, in two drawings I have open. in one, no issue with draw order, in the other, as I stated, cant get it to stick.  well I made draworderctl = 1 and that didnt work, then I looked at the range, saw that 0-3 were the options, made it 0 and then tried, now it works.  not sure why it has to be 0 in one drawing and 3 in another though.  BTW, I have dozens of drawings of each of our sites floorplans.  There is only 1 I have problems in, no matter which version of CAD , 2016 through 2019.  Today I got fed up with it as I am working in it a lot and driving me batty.

but i have went in and out and changed drawings only to come back and find my order correct.  So maybe I can help someone with that info as well.

THanks to the forum, this forum has helped me solve some quirky issues!

No - AutoDesk is making money - we are losing money.  Not exactly the same boat.

WE (in the boat) are all the users in the the world of this software product, also people who works for autodesk AND use this product. So WE are all in the same boat.

And if someone have problems with draworder, post a simple sample.dwg & description and what version is running(dialog ABOUT). Perhaps WE (autodesk or not) can say what setting or update is to use to solve the problem.
Or.. showing a workaround, or we can say it is a bug in that xxxx.x.x version.

No offense, don't be so salty. Software isn't perfect. The people creating/editing the software, they aren't either. We are all here searching for solutions. You could ditch the software and go back to hand drawings.

After outcoming 2019.1.1 this was the solution,
the current version (also incl. this fix) NOW is 2019.1.2,
reachable Autodesk Account.

I'm running 2019.1.2 and I was still having the draworder problem with objects not drawing on top of images. The copy and past didn't work for me, but I removed the image file then re-attached and that seemed to fix it.

Maybe I spoke to soon. The image goes back to covering up all linework as soon as I draw something new. Files attached if anyone wants to test on their end.

People who ask AND GAVE INFORMATIONS get an answer (which is sometimes also the solution), like you.

Your TREEDEPTH is set to zero, set this variable back to default(3020) and you will be happy.

>"The copy and past didn't work for me"

So i guess you have tried this NOT with a standard template (or without a template).
Note: For testing and trying, use original standard templates (acad.dwt/acadiso.dwt) or what i preference often: Start a new file without a template.

We run AutoCAD MEP 2019 and I had to run the basic AutoCAD update to fix my issue with wipeout/draworder. If I run the latest update for MEP, I should not have to run the latest update for basic Autocad.

MEP updates for MEP, AutoCAD updates for your core product AutoCAD.

Start the ABOUT command and you will see the products MEP, Architecture and AutoCAD and there current version.

So you need to check the AKN for MEP AND AutoCAD,

also in your account area the updates for MEP AND AutoCAD.

If you like to be up to date.

I am aware of how to do it, because I did it. However, if a product is built on top of another product, I should only have to do one update. The latest MEP update should include everything.
