double clicking issues

Please help,

my autocad 2015 is making me double click to drag, copy or edit any object. I tried toggling on and off the double click editing command but that does not seem to solve the problem. It's as though it doesnt register the first point of clicking but will only register the second click to move an item from location A to B.

Hi,

welcome @forums.autodesk.com!

>> double click to drag

That does not make sense to me. To drag an object I have to click once to select the object, then a click-and-hold the mouse button to start the drag mode.

There is no double click necessary

>> double click to [...] copy

How do you use a double click to copy an object. I have not seen that yet.

>> double click to[...] edit any object

Double click onto an object depends on which type of object you do the double click. Onto a text/mtext you'll get the text in edit mode, onto a block with attributes you'll get the attribute editor, on a line you'll get the quickproperties pallete opened.

So which type of object do you double-click and how does AutoCAD repsond to that (read the command line)?

Also how is DBLCLKEDIT set on your system?

I am not sure if this is an autocad problem or a pc problem, but I have to double click for autocad to register my mouse click. It doesnt make sense to me...

I have also tried resetting my autocad settings back to default and it still does nothing.

Hi,

>> I have to double click for autocad to register my mouse click

Strange, it appears to be the second thread now within a few days with an issue I never heard yet >>>click<<<

I would start changing the mouse to another type/manufacturer to see if that get solved (without installing any special mouse tools).

If that does not help then please:

  • let us know your exact system configuration (operating system, AutoCAD release, service pack, graphic card + driver, mouse)
  • if possible make a list of installed software and attach it as TXT file, maybe the other guy can verify that list with his installed packages and we find out an app/a tool/... which makes that happen
