Double click editing turns itself off when double clicking attributes

I've been having this issue for years and I am ready to deal with it.

In options, under "user preferences", I will check the box for "Double click editing" to be turned on.  The double click editing works great for Text and MText.

The problem is the moment I try to double click an attribute within a block to edit that text, nothing opens to edit. I will open the options box again and "Double click editing" is suddenly unchecked. This happens every time, it literally triggers something that turns double click editing off.

I used to be able to double click text attributes within a block and have the "Attribute Editor" open.

I have tried editing the macro within the CUI to ^C^C_attedit but that hasn't changed anything.

Has anybody else experienced this glitch and know how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance.

No such issues here @Shanny9

Is this a problem in one file? or one block? Or all files and all blocks with attributes?

Are you by chance just expecting a different pop-up that the one you see?

Are you sure what you are clicking on is actually an attribute? MTEXT or TEXT inside a block can look like an attribute.

What is your AutoCAD's year version as listed inside the program's ABOUT command?
And what is your OS?
