So, some 3d solids have disapperead from the drawing for no apparent reason.
How the event happened:
- I saved the corrrect file and closed autocad;
- I opened the file (note: the preview thumbnail showed the drawing with all the 3d solid still in place)
- Some 3d solid have disappeared from view. At start this object were flickering in view when zooming or orbiting but after a while they were gone for good.
- I'm unable to select the missing objects with the mouse in the drawing, but if I right-click and choose "select similar object" on one of those still in view, they all showed up in the property tab: the number of selected objects is greater than the object visually highlighted in the drawing space. (see picture below)
Note the Move Gizmo in the above picture: if I had selected only the 3d solid highlighted in model space, it would be located in the centroid of the solid; here it is exactly halfway between the centroid and the UCS origin of the drawing.
What I already tried unsuccessfully:
- audit/purging the whole drawing
- revert back to a back up
- copy and paste the selection (including the invisible objects) in a new drawing
- checking for freezed layer and hided objects
- changing view, visual style
- issuing the commands: regen, regen3, redraw all
- zooming to the extents of the drawing
I don't know what to do. This is really unsettling beacuse I don't know what have caused it and it means the autocad is unrealiable in the 3d modeling, I risk to lose hours of work at random. This problem happen at least twice on the same file, indeed the number of selected items in the property tab should be 2 instead of 3, but I recovered from that simply by making a new 3d solid because what an easy job of copy and paste. But as the drawing grow in complexity this is no longer a viable solution.
The attached file should be untouched save I made before the 3d solid went missing.
