dimension text matching field text

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello,

I work with shop dwgs and have to do BOM's all the time. We want to use the fields option in the table for the dimensions of the material. The problem that we are having is the text in the table is not matching the text in the dimensions. I have set the stacking in the dwging to be horizontal but when I set the field in the table it converts it to diagonal. How do I make the dimension text in the field stack horizontal so they match?

Please see attachment, the clouded areas. I can't change the dimension stacking to diagonal it has to stay horizontal.

Thank you for your help,

Rebecca Donat

Hi @Anonymous,

I just found your post and I apologize for the later response.  Can you attach a sample file where the table format does not match that of the dimension?

Thank you for your response. I did attach a file that show dimension text not matching table text. Both of the text are clouded in the file I attached.

I have drawn a steel object put a dimension to it. I then have a table inserted, in one of the cells I insert a field and select the steel dimension but the text for that dimension inserts as diagonal fraction text that doesn't match the horizontal fraction text in the selected dimension.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hi @Anonymous,

I don't see a drawing attachment - only the PDF in your original post.

Yes that's it. I put cloud around the text that I need to match, the one on the left is the steel dimension and the one on the right is the table text.

Hi @Anonymous,

I need your actual drawing file in order to investigate this issue. If you can't share it on a post please email it to me directly at [email protected]

Hi @Anonymous,

The only way I have been able to get the fraction format to stacked is to first convert the field to text and then to rt-click and select the stack option. Sadly, since other format options are not available in creating the field, I don't believe that this is possible.

Thank you for looking at it. We need the field to stay linked to the dimension so if the steel changes size the field will automatically update when we regenall.

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, I understand. I would keep the field for updating as opposed to having the stacked fraction as you have to choose one or the other.

Thank you for your help. I will write to the contacts and ask them to put it on the wish list. This a great feature we would love to use but only if is can be fixed to match text..
