Dimension Issue

Hi All

Has anyone else experience this problem. I'd turn off the dimension Layer to move the exterior wall to new location

in model space, then when I turn the dimension Layer back on I get this. (See Attachment) Is there a way to prevent this dimension stretch. Any Help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Hi,

you created associative dimensions

what is good and the prefered way.

All other non-associative dimensions are just stupid blocks.

You dimensions points are associate to the objects you selected by object snap.

You move the object, the dimension point follows.

If you want prevent this, make your dimensions stupid:

Select your dimension, set associative to No.

Dimension will not follow your object.

DIMASSOC [F1]

Or, don't turn off the Dimensions Layer, Move the Dimensions along with the wall, and they'll all still look normal, though in the new location.  [If you make them stupid, what would be the use of having them in their old location without the extension lines relating them to what is Dimensioned?]

Or, will this option in the Dimension Style definition help?

i subscribe to CAD's idea, but i dont understand the F1.

DIMASSOC has 3 options.

0 - now thats a stupid dimension, it comes in exploded.  the initial value is correct, but thats it.  if its stretched, the value is not affected.

1 - its an intelligent dimension but is NOT associative.  i suggest that setting.

2 - associative dimensions.

if you already have ASSOCIATIVE dimensions on your drawing, perform DIMDISASSOCIATE and select all your dimensions you wish to remain intelligent but not associative.
